İzmir Sephardic Women Hand in Hand. Made as part of the Despertar İzmir project with support from the European Union, this two-hour oral history documents a century of volunteer work by Sephardi women in the Izmir community and in wider civil society.
Sephardic Music. A fifty-minute documentary by the Istanbul-based filmmaker and musicologist Ömür Şenol, premiered in 2022. It explores Sephardi musical traditions through interviews and performances, and features musicians and researchers from Istanbul and Izmir.
Use these films as a way into the community’s wider story: the Sephardi inheritance of the city, the historic synagogues of Kemeraltı, Ladino language and music, and the quieter forms of continuity carried by libraries, schools, cemeteries and family memory.
