İzmir JCC is the public gateway to the Jewish community of İzmir: a living community, a foundation with deep roots, and a heritage landscape that connects synagogues, language, music, food, books, family memory and civic life.
The Community Today
By the early twentieth century, Jewish İzmir was a large and varied community, with synagogues, schools, printing houses, hospitals, learned families, artisans and traders. War, economic change and migration later reduced the size of the community, but not its place in the city.
Not only a historic subject
A living community in a changing city
The Jewish community of İzmir remains part of the city's living fabric. İzmir JCC opened in 2019 as a space for community life and outward-facing cultural work, bringing together members of different ages through social, cultural and religious activity.
The work today is practical and public-minded: supporting communal life, protecting heritage, and helping people encounter İzmir's Jewish story with context.

Foundation work with deep communal roots
The Jewish Community Foundation of İzmir works to meet the social and cultural needs of the community. With roots reaching back to 1605, the community formally became a foundation in 2012.
Its work includes care for members in need, support for elderly and sick members, cultural activity, youth continuity, and stewardship of religious-cultural heritage.
